SDRF: Centre Approves Rs 20 Crore Aid to Nagaland

The Central Government has approved the advance release of ₹20 crore as the second installment of the State Disaster Response Fund SDRF to Nagaland for the financial year 2025–26, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Tuesday. The allocation, approved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, underscores the Centre’s continued commitment to supporting states during natural calamities and disasters.

Centre Reaffirms Support to States Facing Disasters

According to the Home Ministry, the Central Government remains “shoulder to shoulder” with the states, extending both financial and logistical assistance in the face of floods, landslides, and other extreme weather events.

So far in 2025-26, the Centre has already disbursed:

₹15,554 crore to 27 States under the SDRF, and

₹2,267 crore to 15 States under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).


Additionally, funds from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) and National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) were released — amounting to over ₹4,571 crore and ₹372 crore, respectively, benefitting more than 30 states and union territories across India.

Disaster Preparedness: Maximum NDRF Deployment in 2025

The Ministry further highlighted that 2025 witnessed the largest-ever deployment of NDRF teams across the country. During this year’s monsoon season, as many as 199 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were positioned in 30 States and Union Territories to aid in rescue and relief operations.

In addition to NDRF assistance, the Central Government also deployed Army and Air Force teams to disaster-hit regions, ensuring rapid response and evacuation support.

Amit Shah’s Statement on Disaster Management

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed that the Central Government is fully committed to assisting states affected by natural calamities. He emphasized that financial aid under SDRF and NDRF is designed to ensure immediate relief, while the mitigation funds help strengthen long-term disaster resilience.

This timely financial support to Nagaland will enhance the state’s readiness for any unforeseen natural disaster, particularly in the upcoming monsoon cycles.

About the SDRF

The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) is the primary fund available to state governments for meeting expenses related to emergency response, relief, and rehabilitation in the aftermath of notified disasters. The fund is jointly contributed by the Central and State Governments, with the Centre typically contributing 75% for general category states and 90% for special category states like Nagaland.
