Post-Budget Webinar 2026:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a post-Budget webinar on “Agriculture and Rural Transformation” on Friday via video conferencing, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The webinar is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to discuss and implement the key proposals announced in the Union Budget 2026-27, with a focus on boosting farmer incomes, strengthening rural livelihoods, and promoting technology-driven agriculture.
Table of Contents
Focus on High-Value Agriculture
The webinar will highlight opportunities in high-value agriculture, including crops such as cashew, coconut, sandalwood, agarwood, almonds, walnuts and pine nuts. The government aims to unlock the economic potential of these crops to increase farmers’ earnings and enhance agricultural exports.
Special attention will also be given to region-specific agricultural development. For example, agarwood cultivation in the North-East, and nut crops in India’s hilly regions, are expected to receive policy support and targeted interventions.
Role of AI and Digital Infrastructure
One of the key topics of discussion will be Bharat Vistaar, an AI-powered Digital Public Infrastructure for Agriculture. The platform aims to improve data-driven farming practices, enhance productivity and connect farmers with markets and modern technologies.
Officials believe that integrating artificial intelligence and digital platforms into agriculture could significantly improve efficiency and decision-making in the sector.
Discussions on Allied Sectors
The post-Budget consultations will include eight webinar sessions covering four major sectors:
• Agriculture
• Animal husbandry and dairying
• Fisheries
• Rural livelihoods
The discussions will explore private sector investment in animal husbandry, integrated development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars for fisheries, and strengthening coastal fisheries value chains.
Another important focus will be expanding market access for products made by rural women entrepreneurs through Self-Help Entrepreneurs-Marketing Avenues for Rural Transformation (SHE-Marts).

Budget 2026-27 Boost for Agriculture
The Union Budget 2026-27 has placed strong emphasis on agriculture and allied sectors. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of ₹1,62,671 crore for the agriculture sector, representing a 7 percent increase from the revised estimate of ₹1,51,853 crore in 2025-26.
The steady rise in budgetary allocation highlights the government’s focus on farmer welfare, food security and rural development. Notably, the agriculture ministry’s outlay has increased significantly over the years—from about ₹21,933.50 crore in 2013-14 to over ₹1.5 lakh crore in recent budgets.
Coconut and Cashew Promotion
The Budget also introduced several targeted programmes to boost farmer incomes. A Coconut Promotion Scheme has been announced to improve productivity and competitiveness by replacing ageing and unproductive trees with new saplings in major coconut-growing states.
According to the Finance Minister, around 30 million people, including nearly 10 million farmers, depend on coconut cultivation for their livelihoods.
Additionally, the government plans to launch a dedicated programme for Indian cashew and cocoa, aimed at making India self-reliant in raw production, improving processing capacity and transforming these products into premium global brands by 2030.
The upcoming webinar is expected to bring together policymakers, experts and industry stakeholders to discuss practical strategies for implementing these initiatives.
