100% 4G Coverage Nationwide
According to Scindia, the launch will ensure 100% 4G saturation across the nation, strengthening digital inclusion and reaching even the remotest villages. The project, spread across states such as Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar, is being celebrated as a major step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
“This indigenous stack of BSNL demonstrates that India is not only capable of providing telecom services but also of developing advanced technology. It firmly places India among the top five nations producing telecom equipment,” Scindia said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
A Global Leap in Telecom
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) echoed Scindia’s statement, emphasizing that BSNL’s 4G stack embodies the swadeshi spirit. With over 92,000 sites already connecting 22 million Indians, the network symbolizes India’s journey “from dependence to confidence.”
The initiative is expected to boost employment, drive exports, and fuel fiscal revival while setting the foundation for India to become a global telecom leader, joining countries like Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China.

Rs 60,000 Crore Development Push
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore in Jharsuguda, Odisha. These projects cover key sectors including telecommunications, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing. The Prime Minister will address a large public gathering during the event.
22 Months of Innovation
Scindia highlighted that India’s indigenous 4G stack was developed in just 22 months, a feat that reflects the government’s Digital India Fund initiative. This mission-mode project will connect 29,000–30,000 villages, bridging the digital divide and ensuring that rural citizens benefit from seamless internet access.
Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal noted that India is already the world’s largest telecom market. With 300–400 million 5G users currently, the number is expected to surge to 770 million by 2028, further underscoring the importance of this indigenous telecom breakthrough.
A Turning Point for Digital India
The launch of BSNL’s 4G stack is not just a technological achievement but also a symbol of India’s telecom independence. It positions Bharat as a key player in global telecom manufacturing and sets the stage for the country’s 5G and 6G ambitions.
As India celebrates 25 years of BSNL, this moment marks the beginning of a self-reliant, connected future for all citizens.
