The documentary, which premiered on August 15, features Indian military leaders and personnel involved in the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor. The film examines the operation launched by the Indian armed forces following the Pahalgam terror attack and offers India’s account of the military action.

Pakistan’s ISPR Questions Documentary

The official response from Pakistan came through the ISPR, which described the documentary as India’s own depiction of Operation Sindoor and questioned New Delhi’s claim of achieving complete success.

The reaction has once again brought the military operation into the spotlight and renewed the information battle between India and Pakistan.

Indian officials and security sources cited by IANS have interpreted the strong reaction as an indication that the documentary has touched upon sensitive issues within Pakistan’s military and political establishment.

Operation Sindoor Remains a Sensitive Issue

According to security assessments cited in the report, Operation Sindoor significantly affected terror infrastructure associated with groups operating from Pakistan.

The report claims that facilities linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen were among those targeted during the operation.

Indian officials cited by IANS said the operation subsequently became an issue that Pakistan’s military establishment had to explain domestically, particularly amid questions surrounding the impact of the strikes.

However, Pakistan has disputed India’s account of the operation and its reported outcomes.

Information War Intensifies

The latest controversy has also renewed concerns over the information war between the two countries.

According to Indian intelligence officials cited by IANS, Pakistani social media networks have previously been used to circulate narratives aimed at challenging India’s account of military developments.

Officials warned that manipulated videos, images and other online content could be used to challenge the documentary and influence international audiences.

Indian agencies are reportedly monitoring social media activity linked to such accounts and assessing attempts to spread misleading narratives surrounding Operation Sindoor.

Documentary Brings Operation Back Into Global Focus

The release of “Declassified: Operation Sindoor” has provided a detailed Indian perspective on the planning and execution of the military operation, featuring accounts from individuals involved in the mission.

The documentary’s release has also ensured that Operation Sindoor remains part of the wider India-Pakistan geopolitical conversation.

While Islamabad has rejected aspects of India’s narrative, the latest exchange demonstrates how military operations increasingly extend beyond the battlefield into the realm of information and public perception.

The controversy surrounding the documentary is therefore likely to continue as both sides seek to shape international understanding of what happened during Operation Sindoor.
