In a continued effort to promote sustainable agricultural practices, a state-level one-day workshop on natural farming was organized by the Belbari Agricultural Subdivision under West Tripura district on Thursday.

The workshop, conducted under the National Mission on Organic Farming, aimed to raise awareness among farmers about the benefits and techniques of natural and organic farming. It was attended by 50 farmers from the Pani area, who received hands-on knowledge and official certificates upon completion.
Key speakers at the event included:
- Dr. Uttam Saha, Principal Joint Director, State Agriculture Research Station
- Tushar Kanti Das, Agricultural Officer, Belbari Agricultural Subdivision
- Dr. Kabir Debbarma, Block Level Training Officer
- Deepa Debnath, Training Facilitator
- S. Debbarma, Social Worker
- Other officials and staff from the Belbari Agricultural Subdivision Office
Throughout the workshop, experts discussed the advantages of natural farming, such as:
- Reduced dependency on chemical fertilizers and pesticides
- Long-term soil health improvement
- Lower input costs leading to higher profit margins
- Government incentives and technical support available to natural farmers
Participants were also introduced to organic composting techniques, indigenous seed preservation, and eco-friendly pest management strategies.
According to officials, similar workshops will be held across the state in phases to achieve broader farmer outreach under the national initiative.
“Natural farming is not just an eco-conscious choice—it’s a profitable and sustainable model for small and marginal farmers,” said Dr. Uttam Saha, addressing the farmers.
