Highlighting the government’s achievements, Roy recalled that during Durga Puja 2024, nearly 22,674 unorganized workers across 15 occupations — including tea garden workers, jewellery artisans, factory staff, security guards, and housekeeping employees — received Puja bonuses. While the minimum Puja bonus was set at 8.33%, some establishments extended up to 20%, reflecting a growing commitment to fair compensation.

“The initiative is not just financial; it’s a moral responsibility to ensure that workers can celebrate festivals with dignity and joy,” Roy said. He further emphasized that the scheme will cover all industries employing 10 or more workers, with payments made in line with the Bonus Act to ensure fairness and compliance.

The meeting ended with a consensus to finalize grants and bonuses after thorough consultation, marking a proactive step toward inclusive labour welfare in Tripura.
