Space Reforms Mark ‘Turning Point’ for India’s Economy
Addressing industry leaders, policymakers and global delegates, Singh emphasized that the past five years of space reforms have transformed the perception and scope of India’s space economy.
He noted that India’s space capabilities—once considered peripheral—are now recognized as a major economic engine.
“Today, the Indian space economy is $8 billion, and the pace at which it is moving, the projection is that in the next 10 years, it will go up to $44–45 billion,” Singh said.
He further highlighted that 70% of India’s space applications directly support ease of living for citizens, making India unique among major space-faring nations whose focus is often primarily technological or militaristic.
IISC 2025: A Platform for Innovation and Global Collaboration
Organized by the Indian Space Association (ISpA) in collaboration with ISRO and IN-SPACe, IISC 2025 is one of India’s premier events for space-sector dialogue and strategic planning.
The two-day conclave brings together:
Senior government officials
ISRO scientists
Private space-tech innovators
International space agencies
Industry leaders and venture investors
The event aims to strengthen India’s commercial space ecosystem, attract global partnerships, and chart a clear path for the country’s next decade of space innovation.
Historic Felicitation: India’s First ISS Astronaut Honored
One of the event’s most inspiring moments was the felicitation of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to land on the International Space Station (ISS). Shukla described how his mission ignited interest among young Indians.
> “The sky was never the limit. Not for me, not for you, and not for Bharat,” he said, as he encouraged students to dream big and contribute to India’s ambitious space goals.
