Indian women wrestlers showcased remarkable strength and skill at the Under-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship 2025 in Novi Sad, Serbia, earning five bronze medals and securing two spots in the finals to fight for gold.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) confirmed that Nishu (55 kg), Neha Sharma (57 kg), Pulkit (65 kg), Shrishti (68 kg), and Priya (76 kg) clinched bronze medals after impressive performances in their respective weight categories.

Two Indians Storm into Finals for Gold

Adding to India’s growing medal tally, Hanshika Lamba (53 kg) and Sarika Malik (59 kg) have advanced to the finals and will compete for gold medals against Japanese opponents on Saturday.

This marks one of India’s strongest collective performances at the U-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship, signaling a bright future for the nation’s women wrestlers on the global stage.

Vishvajit More Wins Bronze in Greco-Roman 55 kg

Earlier this week, Vishvajit More earned India’s first medal at the championship by securing bronze in the 55 kg Greco-Roman category. His journey was a testament to perseverance and grit.

Vishvajit began his campaign with a confident victory over a Romanian opponent and then dominated an American wrestler through technical superiority. Despite a setback in the quarterfinals, he fought back through the repechage rounds, defeating a Georgian wrestler before overcoming Kazakhstan’s representative with a tight 5–4 scoreline to claim bronze.

WFI President Lauds the Wrestlers

In a press release, WFI President Sanjay Kumar Singh praised the athletes for their discipline and performance, saying,
