Moving Up the GT Racing Ladder
After spending three seasons in the VT2 production classes driving Hyundai and BMW machinery, Gupta is now stepping up into the more competitive GT4 racing category.
During his time in the production classes, he achieved six podium finishes and two race victories, building a solid reputation in endurance racing.
Speaking about the new challenge, Gupta said the previous seasons had been a valuable learning experience.
“The last three years in the production classes were a huge learning experience. I wanted to achieve a few milestones before stepping up the GT racing ladder,” he said.
The Indian driver added that joining a strong and experienced team will help him aim for bigger goals this season.
Strong Team and Familiar Teammates
Gupta will share the driving duties with 19-year-old German racer Darian Donkel, his former teammate from the 2025 season with Mertens Motorsport, along with fellow German driver Aaron Wenisch.
His new team, Sorg Rennsport, is considered one of the most experienced Porsche endurance teams at Nürburgring. The team has achieved over 50 class victories across the NLS and RCN championships and will field 10 entries in the 2026 season.
The Cup3 category is known for having large grids and extremely competitive racing, with identical cars supplied by Porsche and limited setup adjustments. This means that driver skill plays a major role in determining race results.
