India Slams China Over Renaming Attempt:
India on Sunday firmly rejected China’s attempt to assign what it termed “fictitious names” to places in Arunachal Pradesh, reiterating that the state remains an integral and inalienable part of the country. The response comes amid renewed tensions between the two Asian giants over territorial claims.

India’s Strong Response to China
Responding to media queries, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India “categorically rejects” such attempts by China. He emphasized that these actions are aimed at pushing false claims and cannot alter the ground reality.
Jaiswal stated that Arunachal Pradesh “was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India,” underlining New Delhi’s consistent position on the issue.
Call for Stability in Bilateral Ties
India also urged China to refrain from actions that could negatively impact bilateral relations. The MEA highlighted that such moves undermine ongoing efforts to stabilize and normalize ties between New Delhi and Beijing.
“These actions inject negativity into the relationship and detract from efforts to build mutual understanding,” Jaiswal noted.
Repeated Attempts by China
This is not the first instance of China attempting to rename locations in Arunachal Pradesh, which it refers to as “Zangnan.” In May last year, China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs released a list of names for several places in the region.
India had strongly rejected that move as well, calling it “vain and preposterous.” The government had made it clear that “creative naming” does not change the reality of territorial sovereignty.

Strategic and Political Significance
Arunachal Pradesh holds strategic importance due to its location along the India-China border. The issue has been a long-standing point of contention between the two countries, often leading to diplomatic friction.
Experts believe such developments could impact broader geopolitical dynamics in the region, especially at a time when both nations are attempting to manage their complex relationship.
India’s Consistent Stand
India has repeatedly maintained that its territorial integrity is non-negotiable. The latest statement reinforces New Delhi’s firm stance against any attempt to alter the status quo through unilateral actions.
As tensions simmer, both countries face the challenge of balancing their differences while maintaining stability in bilateral ties. The situation remains closely watched, given its implications for regional peace and security.
