India Concerned Over Iran-Gulf Tensions:

India on Saturday expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in Iran and the Gulf region following US military strikes on Iranian missile facilities. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged all sides to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation, and prioritise civilian safety amid rising tensions.

The developments come after US President Donald Trump announced a “massive and ongoing” military operation targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure.

MEA Urges Restraint, Calls for Diplomacy

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said:
“India is deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians. Dialogue and diplomacy should be pursued to de-escalate tensions and address underlying issues. Sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected.”

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that Indian missions in the region are actively coordinating with Indian nationals and issuing advisories to ensure their safety.

India’s response underscores its consistent position advocating diplomatic engagement and regional stability.

Embassy Advisories Issued in Iran, Qatar, and UAE

The Embassy of India in Tehran advised Indian nationals to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movements, and remain indoors as far as possible. Citizens were urged to monitor official updates and maintain contact with the embassy.

Similarly, the Embassy of India in Doha issued an important advisory asking Indian nationals in Qatar to follow emergency alerts from local authorities and avoid areas near military sites. The embassy confirmed it continues to function normally.

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai also issued urgent advisories, asking Indians to avoid unnecessary travel and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
Emergency contact numbers and WhatsApp helplines have been made available for immediate assistance.

US Announces “Massive” Operation Against Iran

In a video message posted on his social media platform Truth Social, US President Donald Trump stated that American forces are carrying out a “massive and ongoing operation” aimed at destroying Iran’s missile capabilities.
“We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground,” Trump said.
The announcement has heightened fears of broader regional instability across the Gulf.

India Prioritises Citizen Safety Amid Uncertainty

With a large Indian diaspora residing in the Gulf region, New Delhi’s immediate focus remains the safety and well-being of its nationals. India maintains strong diplomatic ties with countries across the region, including Iran, Qatar, and the UAE.
As tensions continue to unfold, India has reiterated its call for diplomacy, de-escalation, and respect for sovereignty to prevent further instability in West Asia.
