Adani Defence & Aerospace, a leading player in India’s defence and aerospace sector, has won the prestigious Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Champion Award 2025. The award recognizes the company’s Kanpur Ammunition Complex in Uttar Pradesh for excellence in design, manufacturing, and testing.
The award was presented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, acknowledging Adani’s contribution to India’s push for self-reliance under the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and “Made in India, Made for the World” initiatives.
A Recognition of Technological Leadership
According to a company statement, the SIDM Champion Award highlights the Kanpur facility’s cutting-edge capabilities. Spread over 500 acres, the Adani Ammunition Complex is India’s most advanced and integrated ammunition production ecosystem.
The complex operates under Industry 4.0 standards, leveraging automation, robotics, and AI-driven precision systems to ensure safety, consistency, and superior quality across small, medium, and large-calibre ammunition.
“This recognition is a testament to our efforts to build an indigenous, technology-driven defence manufacturing ecosystem that enhances India’s strategic readiness,” said Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace.
Scaling Up: Future-Ready Manufacturingv
Adani Defence has announced an ambitious expansion plan to double ammunition production in the coming months. The company will invest ₹7,000 crore over the next few years to strengthen its defence manufacturing capabilities.
The Kanpur facility will also diversify into missile manufacturing, and produce large-calibre ammunition, bulletproof jackets, drones, fighter aircraft, and helicopters — further contributing to India’s evolving defence landscape.
Rajvanshi emphasized that these developments will not only bolster national security but also position India as a global defence manufacturing hub.
