The (NRAI) has launched the National Judges Course 2026 in Delhi NCR, marking the second annual event under its Education Program. The course is being held at a hotel in the region and will run until April 26.

The programme has brought together aspiring as well as experienced technical officials from across the country, aiming to strengthen the officiating standards in shooting sports.

Focus on Technical Excellence

The course was officially inaugurated in the presence of and , who highlighted the importance of structured training for judges and juries.

Experts and are leading the sessions, focusing on both the technical rules and practical aspects of officiating in shooting competitions.

Ensuring Fairness and Global Standards

Addressing participants, Pawankumar Singh emphasised the critical role of judges in maintaining fairness, integrity, and smooth conduct of competitions. He noted that as shooting continues to be one of India’s strongest Olympic sports, the need for highly trained technical officials is more important than ever.

The initiative is also aimed at aligning Indian shooting standards with global benchmarks and preparing participants for advanced opportunities such as the ISSF ‘B’ Judges Course scheduled for June 2026.

NRAI’s Legacy and Vision

Reflecting on the organisation’s history, Singh highlighted that NRAI was established in 1951 by prominent leaders including , former Prime Minister , , and , among others.

As NRAI celebrates 75 years of its establishment, the organisation reiterated its commitment to strengthening the sport at all levels.

Expanding Grassroots Participation

Looking ahead, NRAI aims to introduce shooting sports to around 7.5 lakh school students this year. The goal is to expand grassroots participation and identify new talent across the country.

Officials stressed that a strong base of trained judges and technical experts will be essential to support this growth and ensure high-quality competitions nationwide.

The NRAI National Judges Course remains a key initiative in building a professional officiating ecosystem, helping India maintain its competitive edge in international shooting sports.
