PM Modi Targets TMC Over Women’s Bill:
PM Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the (TMC), accusing it of conspiring with opposition parties to stall the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill in Parliament. Addressing a rally in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, the Prime Minister said the party would face consequences in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Modi Accuses TMC of Betraying Women
Speaking at the campaign rally, Modi claimed that the people of West Bengal, especially women, would not forgive the TMC for its alleged role in blocking the bill in the Lok Sabha.
He asserted that the party had “betrayed the sisters of West Bengal” and suggested that it does not want women to have greater representation as Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
Attack on Opposition Alliance
The Prime Minister further alleged that the TMC acted in coordination with the and other opposition groups to prevent the bill from progressing. He maintained that the central government remains committed to enhancing women’s participation in politics through legislative measures.
Focus on Tribal Issues and Governance
In his address, Modi also criticised the state government for allegedly neglecting tribal communities. He said that their concerns were being overlooked while attention was being given to other priorities.
The Prime Minister referred to President , highlighting her background as India’s first tribal President, and accused opposition parties of historically undermining representation from tribal communities.

Welfare Promises if BJP Comes to Power
Modi outlined several welfare measures that would be implemented if the (BJP) comes to power in West Bengal. These included:
- Free ration support for poor families
- Financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh under housing schemes
- Implementation of the scheme, offering up to ₹5 lakh in medical coverage
- Free dialysis services in government hospitals
He claimed that such benefits are already available in BJP-ruled states like Assam, Odisha, and Gujarat but are not being extended to citizens in West Bengal.
Political Message Ahead of Elections
Modi concluded by asserting that the people of West Bengal are increasingly dissatisfied with what he described as corruption and “cut-money culture” under the current regime. He said voters are now placing their trust in the BJP for governance and development.
The remarks come amid intensifying political activity in the state, as parties gear up for the upcoming Assembly elections.
