PM Modi shared details of the interaction in a post on X, stating, “It was wonderful meeting Mr. Tufan Erginbilgic, CEO of Rolls-Royce earlier today. We welcome Rolls-Royce’s enthusiasm towards scaling up its activities in India and partnering with our innovative and dynamic youth.”

Rolls-Royce Eyes Larger India Presence

Rolls-Royce said its CEO met the Prime Minister to discuss how the company is scaling up to become an integral part of India’s development journey. The discussions included expanding its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India to make it the largest globally, co-creating complex manufacturing systems, and building high-value engineering capabilities.

Erginbilgic emphasized the company’s long-term commitment, stating that Rolls-Royce aims to develop India into a “home market.”

“We have deep ambitions to develop India as a home for Rolls-Royce, building on our strong and successful partnership,” he said. He added that the company’s technologies across air, land and sea applications position it well to build in-country capabilities and foster strategic partnerships.

Boost to India-UK Economic Partnership

The CEO’s visit comes amid growing economic collaboration between India and the United Kingdom. Rolls-Royce had earlier participated in industry dialogues during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s official visit to India following the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

The company stated that its expansion plans are aligned with the India-UK Vision 2035 framework, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment and technology cooperation.
