The visit comes as part of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s official working trip to India, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, and reflects the strong political trust and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

PM Modi’s Message on X Highlights Warm Ties

Sharing details of the engagement on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his delight at receiving the UAE leadership. The delegation included Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE; Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan.

The Prime Minister’s message highlighted the significance New Delhi attaches to its relationship with Abu Dhabi and Dubai, especially at a time of evolving regional and global dynamics.

UAE President Personally Received by PM Modi

Earlier in the day, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi and was personally received by PM Modi at the Palam Air Base. Such a gesture underlined the close personal rapport between the two leaders and the strategic importance India places on its partnership with the UAE.

This high-profile reception is consistent with recent diplomatic exchanges between the two nations, including the visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in September 2024, and Sheikh Hamdan’s earlier trip to India in April 2025.

Focus on Trade, Defence, Energy and Technology

During the visit, the leaders are expected to hold wide-ranging discussions aimed at further strengthening the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Key areas on the agenda include trade and investment, defence cooperation, energy security, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and regional stability.

The UAE is one of India’s closest partners in the Gulf region, with bilateral ties significantly boosted by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The partnership has unlocked new opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, clean energy, AI, and sustainable development.

Shared Vision for Future Collaboration

The brief yet substantive engagement also reflects continuity in leadership and a shared vision for peace, prosperity, and innovation. Potential initiatives such as digital embassies and UAE support for major upcoming events, including India’s AI Impact Summit in February 2026, are seen as symbols of forward-looking cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi has previously emphasized Dubai’s pivotal role in strengthening India–UAE relations, and the current visit further reinforces the commitment of both nations to elevate their partnership to new heights.
