India’s Premier Global Finance Hub

As of now, more than 1,034 entities are registered in the GIFT IFSC, including 38 banks with an asset base of $100.14 billion. The city spans nearly 1,000 acres, expected to expand to more than 3,300 acres including SEZ and Domestic Tariff Area zones.

GIFT City offers attractive incentives such as a 10-year income-tax exemption within a 15-year period to units operating within the IFSC, making it one of the most competitive financial zones in Asia.

Unified Oversight Under IFSCA

Governance of GIFT City falls under the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), established through the IFSCA Act, 2019 and operational since April 2020.

Unlike earlier fragmented regulatory frameworks involving RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and PFRDA, IFSCA now functions as a single unified regulator, enabling:

Improved ease of doing business

Alignment with global standards

The IFSC entity is treated as a non-resident for Foreign Exchange Management purposes, offering global market flexibility.
