India on Monday expressed gratitude to the UAE government for its support and condolences after the tragic crash of an Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet during the Dubai Air Show. The accident claimed the life of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, a decorated IAF pilot from Himachal Pradesh.

MEA Expresses Appreciation to UAE
In a statement posted on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) thanked the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs for standing with India in the moment of loss.
“Thank you for your solidarity… we appreciate the sentiments of the Government and people of UAE,” the MEA said.
The response came after the UAE issued an official condolence message acknowledging the tragic incident and offering sympathy to the pilot’s family and the Indian nation.
UAE’s Message of Solidarity
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote:
“The United Arab Emirates has expressed its solidarity with the Republic of India and its sincere condolences over the tragic incident…”
The ministry also conveyed “heartfelt condolences and sympathy” to the pilot’s family and to the Government of India.
Final Journey of Wing Commander Namansh Syal
The mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, 34, were brought to his native village in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. He was cremated with full military honours, attended by IAF officers, family, and local officials.
Syal hailed from Patiyalkar village near Yol, and was posted at the Hyderabad airbase at the time of the incident.
He is survived by his wife Afsaan, also an IAF officer, and their five-year-old daughter.
His parents, both retired government employees, were visiting him in Hyderabad when the tragedy occurred.

The Tejas Crash: What Happened
On November 21, during a low-altitude performance at the Dubai Air Show, the HAL-designed Tejas Light Combat Aircraft reportedly lost control and crashed at the Al Maktoum International Airport.
The jet caught fire, leaving no chance for the pilot to eject.
Investigations by UAE authorities, HAL, and the Indian Air Force are underway.
Tributes Pour In: “Gone Too Soon”
The IAF, in an official message, honoured Syal’s service:
“A dedicated fighter pilot and thorough professional… his courage and commitment will forever inspire us.”
The Southern Air Command added on X:
“Gone too soon, but never forgotten.”
Syal’s colleagues described him as a disciplined, highly skilled pilot with an “exceptional service record”.
