Transforming India’s Infrastructure Landscape
According to Goyal, PM Gati Shakti has brought “speed, synergy, and sustainability” to infrastructure execution across India. “Marking 4 years of PM Gati Shakti, a game-changing initiative by PM Modi, which has transformed India’s infrastructure planning through a ‘Whole-of-Government’ approach,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The platform connects 58 ministries and departments and all 36 states and union territories, enabling integrated planning and monitoring through their own geospatial portals.
This integration has led to faster project approvals, cost efficiency, and better service delivery, strengthening India’s logistics and connectivity backbone.
Reducing Logistics Costs and Boosting Efficiency
A study by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) highlights a major achievement: India’s logistics costs have fallen to between 7.8% and 8.9% of GDP, down from earlier estimates of 13–14%.
This sharp decline reflects the success of PM Gati Shakti’s coordinated infrastructure strategy — a crucial step toward India’s goal of world-class logistics efficiency.
According to the recent report “Gati Se Pragati,” India’s logistics costs are now approaching global benchmarks of 6–8%, as seen in developed economies such as the US and Germany.
India’s Global Logistics Ranking Improves
India’s improvement in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) — from 44th to 38th place in 2023 — also signals tangible progress. The report attributes this growth to streamlined coordination and multimodal transport networks built under PM Gati Shakti.
With enhanced road, rail, port, and digital connectivity, the plan continues to drive economic efficiency and reduce delivery times across the country.

Cornerstone of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
As India aims to become a developed nation by 2047, PM Gati Shakti serves as the foundation for seamless multi-modal infrastructure — boosting trade, employment, and economic competitiveness.
“Driving seamless connectivity and logistics efficiency, PM Gati Shakti stands as a cornerstone in our journey towards a Viksit Bharat,” Goyal stated.
Conclusion
Four years on, PM Gati Shakti has evolved from a digital master plan into a transformational national mission, redefining how India plans, builds, and executes large-scale infrastructure projects. As it scales further, experts see it as a key enabler for sustainable growth and India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
