Major Schemes Worth ₹35,440 Crore Announced

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will launch two flagship schemes in the agriculture sector with a combined outlay of ₹35,440 crore.

It will also focus on improving irrigation facilities and increasing access to both short- and long-term credit in 100 selected districts across India.

The second initiative, Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, comes with a budget of ₹11,440 crore. This mission is designed to make India self-reliant in pulse production by improving productivity levels, expanding cultivation areas, strengthening procurement and processing infrastructure, and minimizing post-harvest losses.

PM Modi’s Continued Commitment to Farmer Welfare

The PMO emphasized that the programme demonstrates PM Modi’s ongoing commitment to empowering farmers, ensuring agricultural self-reliance, and building resilient rural infrastructure.

During the event, the Prime Minister will interact with farmers who have benefited from government schemes promoting value-chain development in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. The interaction aims to highlight success stories of farmers adopting modern practices and contributing to India’s growing agricultural exports.

Experts note that these announcements align with India’s broader vision of doubling farmers’ income and ensuring food security through innovation, investment, and inclusivity.

A Step Toward “Viksit Bharat 2047”

The large-scale investment is expected to significantly enhance rural livelihoods, boost production, and generate employment across multiple allied sectors. By strengthening value chains from farm to market, these initiatives will also support India’s long-term goal of becoming a global agri-export hub under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
