Tripura Assembly Session 2025: Four Key Bills to be Tabled from September 19

Agartala, Sept 15,2025 – The eighth session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to begin on September 19 and will run until September 23, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced on Monday. The two-day session has been scheduled keeping in mind the upcoming Durga Puja festival and the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on September 22.

Session Details

Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has summoned the Tripura Assembly session. As Speaker Biswabandhu Sen is unwell, the proceedings will be presided over by Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul.

The decision on the agenda was finalized during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, chaired by Paul and attended by representatives from the BJP, CPI(M), and Tipra Motha Party. Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury was absent due to personal reasons.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nath said:

“We want to hold discussions for the betterment of the people. It has been decided that the Assembly will commence on September 19 and conclude on September 23.”

Bills on the Agenda

Four important bills will be tabled during the session:

  1. Tripura State Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill
  2. Tripura Jana Viswas (Amendment) Provision Bill
  3. Factories Bill
  4. Tripura Shops and Establishments (Seventh Amendment) Bill

On September 19, the Tripura Assembly Session will begin with Question Hour, followed by the introduction of bills. The concluding sitting on September 23 will focus on detailed discussions and debates.

Private Members’ Resolutions

In addition to government business, three private members’ resolutions will be discussed:

  • BJP MLAs Dipak Majumder and Ram Pada Jamatia
  • One CPI(M) legislator (selected through balloting)

PM Modi’s Visit

Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit on September 22, there will be no House sitting on that day. The session will resume the next day.
