On the occasion, Ar. Rajib Debbarma, Mission Director, Tripura Organic Mission, emphasized:

> “Black pepper has immense potential to become a brand commodity of Tripura in the organic sector. Through the collective strength of our FPCs, we are not only ensuring better income for our farmers but also positioning Tripura strongly in the national and international organic spice market. Today’s plantation drive at Jirania is just the beginning of a larger organic cluster that will benefit generations of farmers.”

Farmers at the Core of the Mission

The plantation drive highlighted the role of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) in promoting organic farming at the grassroots. By working collectively, farmers can pool resources, adopt best practices, and access markets more effectively.

Dignitaries praised the community effort and assured institutional support for expanding organic ventures in the region. Jirania has been projected as a model block for organic spice cultivation, setting an example for other districts in Tripura.

A Step Toward Global Recognition

Experts believe that this initiative could pave the way for Tripura to emerge as a recognized hub for organic spice exports. With growing global demand for organic spices, Tripura’s black pepper could soon find its place in national and international markets, boosting both the rural economy and the state’s agricultural identity.
