Driving India Towards $50 Billion Agri-Food Exports

BHARATI has been designed to nurture and empower 100 agri-food and agritech startups. The goal is to accelerate innovation, enhance export readiness, and support India’s mission of reaching $50 billion in agri-food exports by 2030.

The programme will kick off in September 2025 with its pilot cohort, which will include high-value agri-food producers, technology-driven solution providers, and young entrepreneurs working on innovative products.

🔸GI-tagged agri-products

🔸Organic and superfoods

🔸Novel processed Indian foods

🔸Livestock products

🔸AYUSH-based food products

BHARATI also seeks to integrate cutting-edge technologies like AI-driven quality control, blockchain traceability, IoT-enabled cold chains, and agri-fintech solutions. Beyond technology, it will encourage startups to work on sustainable packaging, logistics efficiency, and reducing wastage—all vital to improving India’s competitiveness in global markets.

Startup Selection and Support

Applications for the programme will open in September 2025 through the APEDA website. Startups will be shortlisted for a three-month acceleration programme, which will focus on:

🔸Product development

🔸Export readiness

🔸Regulatory compliance

🔸International market access

🔸Collaborative solutions to address export barriers

To build a strong ecosystem, APEDA will collaborate with state agricultural boards, leading universities, IITs, NITs, industry bodies, and incubation centres. This approach will ensure wide participation from across the country.

A Step Towards Atmanirbhar Bharat

Aligned with government visions such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, Digital India, and Start-Up India, BHARATI is expected to create globally competitive agri-products, boost backward integration in food innovation, and fuel global demand for Indian food and beverages.

The pilot cohort will serve as a model for annual incubation programmes, enabling continuous innovation and scaling of India’s agricultural exports. With BHARATI, APEDA has reiterated its commitment to develop, promote, and transform India’s agricultural and processed food products into global success stories.

As India takes this ambitious step, the initiative promises to bring together innovators, investors, and policymakers to collectively build a resilient and export-driven agri-food ecosystem.
