A high-level Tripura Delegation met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss critical issues concerning the socio-economic development of the state’s tribal communities. The meeting, held at Parliament House on Tuesday, included influential leaders such as Rajya Sabha MP and Tripura BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharya, BJP North East India convenor Sambit Patra, Tribal Welfare Minister Vikas Debbarma, former Tribal Welfare Minister and sitting MLA Rampad Jamatia, and Commerce and Industry Minister Santana Chakma.

The discussions were constructive and centered on the holistic development and welfare of Tripura’s diverse tribal population, addressing ongoing political challenges and the state’s current issues. The Tripura delegation emphasized the need for central government support to accelerate developmental initiatives aimed at uplifting tribal communities.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah attentively listened to the representatives, assuring full government cooperation to uphold peace, promote welfare, and ensure steady progress in the tribal regions of Tripura. The meeting is expected to pave the way for enhanced assistance from the Centre for the state, particularly focusing on the welfare of its indigenous tribal population.

Tripura, with nearly one-third of its population belonging to various tribal communities, has seen increasing focus on tribal development schemes, including funds allocated through the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and initiatives such as the World Bank-supported projects for indigenous welfare.
This engagement reflects the central government’s commitment to inclusive growth and peace in the northeastern states, aligning with the broader goals of ensuring socio-economic advancement and political stability in Tripura.
