Parliament Monsoon Session Day 16 LIVE: Rajya Sabha Passes Bill on ST Representation in Goa

The Monsoon Session of Parliament entered its 16th day amid continuing Opposition protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged “vote theft.”

In the Lok Sabha, the National Sports Governance Bill and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill were passed with minimal Opposition presence in the House due to walkouts.

In the Rajya Sabha, lawmakers cleared the Merchant Shipping Bill and the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also introduced the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, proposing tax exemptions for subscribers of the Unified Pension Scheme.

Earlier in the day, both Houses were adjourned until 2 p.m. following noisy disruptions. Parliament has seen repeated adjournments over the past two weeks due to Opposition demands for a debate on the Bihar SIR.
