A 25-year-old tennis player named Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her own father in Gurugram, Haryana on Thursday (July 10), as per a India Today report. As per the report, the incident took place at the Yadav family residence around 10:30 AM (IST) in Sector 57, Gurugram.
According to NDTV, the incident stemmed from an argument between Radhika and her father, who reportedly disapproved of her interest in creating Instagram reels. What began as a routine family disagreement quickly escalated, with her father losing control in a fit of rage, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting.
Radhika, a rising sports star known for her dedication and discipline, had represented Haryana in multiple under-19 tennis championships and was considered a promising future athlete.

Radhika Yadav was a professional junior tennis player enrolled in a prestigious sports academy in Gurugram. Coaches described her as a “focused, hardworking, and highly talented” player. She had dreams of representing India internationally.
Friends and fellow athletes recall her as “a fighter on the court and a kind soul off it.”

According to Gurugram Police, Radhika’s father, Rajeev Yadav, was arrested on charges of murder. The alleged incident occurred late at night following a heated argument, reportedly over her career choices and growing independence.
“The father confessed during interrogation. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of domestic violence rooted in control and emotional abuse,” said ACP Crime, Gurugram.

Authorities are also investigating the mental health history of the accused and any past instances of family disputes or abuse. The mother was reportedly not at home during the incident.
