In a landmark step toward disaster preparedness, the Government of Tripura today officially launched the State Disaster Management Plan (SDMP) 2024–25, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding citizens from both natural and man-made disasters through the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
The event, held at the State Secretariat (Mahakaran), was presided over by Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and graced by the presence of Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, and Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey. The plan’s unveiling marks the release of a comprehensive disaster management strategy after nearly a decade, aligning state priorities with the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Key Highlights of the Disaster Management Revamp:
Organised by the Revenue Department, the unveiling was accompanied by the launch of several critical initiatives aimed at enhancing the state’s disaster resilience infrastructure:
✅ Technology Demonstration Unit at Hapania
A state-of-the-art facility built to train stakeholders—including government agencies, volunteers, and first responders—on modern disaster response tools and technologies.
✅ Civil Defence Training Programme
A structured and ongoing community-based training initiative to build a skilled civilian emergency response force, ready to act during times of crisis.
✅ Installation of 26 Automated Weather Stations and Rain Gauges
Strategically located across Tripura, these units will ensure real-time climate monitoring, enhancing early warning systems and improving decision-making during extreme weather events.

✅ Online Portal for Disaster Equipment Verification
This new digital platform will streamline the certification and verification of emergency response equipment, ensuring rapid deployment and operational readiness.
✅ Online Portal for Land Use Change (Diversion of Land)
To maintain transparency and expedite clearances in disaster-prone areas, this portal enables efficient processing of land use applications, especially in zones sensitive to environmental hazards.
