Tripura Shines at MENOPE 2025:
Tripura has made a powerful entry into the global organic market by showcasing its premium agricultural products at the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Expo (MENOPE) 2025. The three-day event, held from November 17–19 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, saw the northeastern state gain major international attention, attracting buyers from the GCC region, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Led by Ratan Lal Nath, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Tripura demonstrated its rapid progress in organic farming and export readiness, positioning itself as one of India’s fastest-growing organic product hubs.

Tripura’s GI Organic Products Steal the Spotlight
Tripura’s pavilion featured a vibrant display of its Geographical Indication (GI)-certified and premium organic products, including:
Queen Pineapple
Jackfruit
Kalikasya aromatic rice
Harinayaran rice
Birds Eye chili
Gandharaj lemon
White sesame
Foxtail millet
Visitors praised the organic produce for its aroma, purity, and export-grade quality. Buyers expressed particular interest in the Queen Pineapple, which already has strong demand in Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets.
Minister Nath called the event a “breakthrough moment” for the state, stating:
“Tripura has opened new doors of opportunity in the global organic market under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
26,400 Hectares Certified Organic; 26,800 Farmers Shift to Natural Farming
Tripura has rapidly expanded its organic farming base over the past few years. Currently:
26,400 hectares are fully certified organic
26,800 farmers have shifted from chemical-based farming to natural and sustainable agriculture
To maintain global export quality, the state has established 53 Organic Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) responsible for aggregation, packaging, branding, value addition, and international buyer linkages.
High-Value Rice, Spices Draw Investor Interest
Tripura’s wide range of aromatic and specialty rice varieties—such as Kalikasya, sticky brown rice, and black rice—received strong investor attention for their nutritional benefits and export potential.
Organic spices like ginger, turmeric, Birds Eye chili, and sesame also generated demand, especially from European and West Asian retailers searching for clean-label, chemical-free ingredients.

Tripura Targets High Growth in India’s Expanding Organic Sector
With India’s organic food sector growing at 15–20% annually, Tripura is positioning itself as a key contributor. Minister Nath also promoted the state’s non-agricultural organic products including:
Agarwood and agar oil
Natural perfumes
Bamboo-based handicrafts
These items have long-standing popularity in the Gulf and Southeast Asian markets.
Tripura Invites Global Investors to 2026 Organic Buyer–Seller Meet
A major highlight of the event was Nath’s formal invitation to international businesses to attend Tripura’s Organic Buyer–Seller Meet in January 2026. The upcoming event will serve as a platform for global collaborations in:
Organic farming
Food processing
Sustainable agriculture
Eco-friendly product manufacturing
Tripura Organic Mission Director Rajib Deb Barma also held multiple discussions with stakeholders, strengthening the state’s long-term export strategy.
With expanding international visibility and strong government backing, Tripura is now emerging as a major Indian hub for premium, chemical-free organic products.
