🚑 According to state health officials, each of the 16 ambulances is equipped with:

Advanced Life Support (ALS) systems Cardiac monitors and defibrillators Oxygen concentrators and ventilators Real-time GPS tracking for faster response Telemedicine support for live doctor consultation during transit

The ambulances will be strategically deployed across accident-prone zones in Tripura, especially along national highways and remote areas where timely medical help is often unavailable.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated during the launch:

“This is a life-saving mission. With modern equipment and trained paramedics, we are strengthening our emergency response to road accidents and other critical cases.”

He also mentioned that :

The safety of every life is priority for our government. Our Transport Department has been working tirelessly to reduce road accidents, and we’ve seen a significant decline. We’ve handed over 16 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances to the Police and Fire Services, valued at Rs. 3.84 crores. Furthermore, we’ve launched the Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) system, a Rs. 5.49 crore project that will enhance women’s safety across the state.”

Officials also highlighted that this move is aligned with the central government’s Vision Zero Accident Mission and the Ayushman Bharat Emergency Care Framework.

Tripura reports over 500 road accident cases annually, many of which result in fatalities due to delayed emergency care.

With this fleet, the state aims to reduce mortality rates, particularly among young accident victims and rural populations.

The initiative also includes training for ambulance staff, improved inter-hospital coordination, and public awareness campaigns on road safety.
