Agartala, 7 June 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the B Division League Football Tournament 2025–26 at the Umakanta Mini Stadium in Agartala on Saturday. The event marks the beginning of another exciting football season in the state, aimed at promoting grassroots-level sports and nurturing young athletic talent.
Organized by the Tripura Football Association, the B Division League provides a competitive platform for local football clubs and emerging players from across districts to showcase their skills.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Manik Saha emphasized the importance of sports in youth development and reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for athletes.
“Football is not just a game, it’s a way to build discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among our youth. Our government is continuously working to uplift the sporting ecosystem in Tripura,” Dr Manik Saha stated.
Several local dignitaries, football association members, and enthusiastic spectators were present during the opening ceremony. The event featured a cultural performance followed by the kickoff match.
The B Division League will feature matches between multiple teams from different districts, running over the next few weeks. The top performers from this league often move up to A Division and are considered for state-level and national selections.
