Tripura CM Inaugurates Affordable Housing Project at Vivekananda Township

Fulfilling the state government’s commitment to citizen-centric development, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today inaugurated the first housing project under TUDA – Vivekanda Township Project at Kamanchawmuhuni, Agartala.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister and dignitaries symbolically handed over keys of the newly constructed flats to three beneficiaries, marking the beginning of a new chapter for affordable and planned housing in Tripura.

Key Features of Vivekananda Township Project

  • Total flats constructed: 48
  • Project cost: ₹20.22 crore
  • Area: 1 acre
  • Infrastructure: 3 G+4 towers with 3 blocks offering different types of flats
  • Facilities: Modern amenities, transparent infrastructure, earthquake-proof technology, focus on citizen safety & convenience

The Chief Minister said that the government’s vision is to ensure “a beautiful and safe home for every family” at affordable prices. He added that the Vivekananda Township reflects the government’s focus on planned urban development, transparency, quality infrastructure, and citizen welfare.

Other Ongoing Urban Housing Initiatives

  • Construction of 216 flats near Bhagat Singh Youth Housing (₹96 crore project, ADB-assisted)
  • Chief Minister’s Housing Yojana has already delivered 70,172 houses, with 4,267 completed in FY 2024-25
  • Upcoming Satellite Town & Urban Development Projects worth ₹1,500 crore annually
  • ₹800 crore worth of projects inaugurated between January 2025 – August 2025
  • Launch of Tripura Land Pooling & Plot Reconstitution Policy to enable planned urban expansion
  • Ongoing work on sewage treatment plants for Kata Canal, Kalapania Canal, and across the state to ensure clean water & sustainable growth

The CM also highlighted how Tripura’s urban landscape is transforming, especially Agartala city, with integrated efforts in housing, water supply, roads, sanitation, and eco-friendly development.

Congratulating the new residents of Vivekananda Township, Dr. Saha urged them to “take care of their new homes and become partners in building a modern, sustainable, and developed Tripura.”

The event was attended by Agartala Mayor & MLA Sri Deepak Majumdar, Urban Development Secretary Sri Abhishek Singh .Corporator cum chairperson of Agartala Municipility Central zone Chairperson Smt Ratna Dutta, Urban Development Director Megha Jain, and senior officials. TUDA Commissioner Mihir Kranti Gope delivered the welcome address.
