West Agartala police have arrested three individuals in a targeted raid on a shop in Battala, seizing brown sugar, ganja, and cash in an operation aimed at dismantling local drug networks.
Acting on secret intelligence, Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee led a special police team in civilian clothing to the location. According to SDPO Deba Prasad Roy, the raid yielded 5.1 grams of brown sugar, 2 kg of dry ganja, and over ₹5,000 in cash. The contraband’s estimated market value is around ₹2.5 lakh.
“We had been tracking this racket for a long time but were waiting for concrete evidence,” the SDPO stated.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Gopal Das, Kamal Sutradhar, and Nayan Sarkar. Notably, Gopal Das was previously arrested in another drug case but had been released on bail.
Police sources said the operation began with officers boarding an auto in plain clothes to avoid suspicion before swiftly raiding the shop and catching the suspects red-handed.
Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network.
