The Incident in California of Telangana Techie

According to a statement from the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD), officers responded to a 911 call on September 3 regarding a stabbing incident. On arrival, they found Nizamuddin holding a knife and pinning down his injured roommate.

Police said the situation escalated into an “Officer Involved Shooting,” after which Nizamuddin was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His roommate, who sustained multiple stab wounds, is undergoing treatment. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and SCPD are conducting a joint investigation, calling it an “active and open case.”

Family’s Allegations of Racial Bias

Telangana Techie Nizamuddin’s family in Mahabubnagar, Telangana, contests the police version. They claim that he himself had called the police for help and was instead shot dead. The family has alleged racial discrimination, pointing to the deceased’s social media posts where he complained of harassment and injustice in the US.

In a LinkedIn post, Nizamuddin had written:

> “I have been a victim of racial hatred, racial discrimination, racial harassment, torture, wage-fraud, wrongful termination and obstruction of justice. Enough is enough, white supremacy/racist white American mentality has to end.”

The family also alleged that he had raised concerns about wage fraud, workplace discrimination, food poisoning, eviction, and intimidation prior to the incident.

Appeal for Government Intervention

Local political leader Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesperson of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), met Telengana Techie Nizamuddin’s father and wrote to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to take up the matter with the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Consulate General in San Francisco.

The family has requested government assistance to bring back his mortal remains and to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.

A Promising Career Cut Short

Telangana Techie Nizamuddin had pursued a Master’s degree in Computer Science in Florida and was working with a technology firm in California. Known as a quiet and religious person by his family, his untimely death has sent shockwaves across the Indian community in the US and his hometown in Telangana.

What Lies Ahead

While US authorities continue their investigation into the case, the family insists on accountability and a probe into allegations of racial bias. For now, their immediate plea is the safe repatriation of his body so that he can be laid to rest in his hometown.
