SEBI News: SEBI Alerts Investors About Fake Letters and Logos

Sky Link Times Business Desk | June 5, 2025

New Delhi: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a strong caution to the public regarding an increase in fraudulent communications falsely using SEBI’s name, logo, and forged letterheads.

“SEBI issues alert against misuse of its official logo and letterhead in fraudulent schemes — urges public to stay cautious and verify all communications.”

In its official statement, SEBI clarified that unscrupulous entities are circulating fake documents—including emails, WhatsApp messages, and printed letters—aimed at misleading investors into fake schemes and illegal investment offers.

“SEBI never sends communications regarding investment schemes or personal financial advice,” the regulator emphasized.

SEBI urged investors to verify all communications through official SEBI channels and warned that engaging with such fraudulent content could result in financial losses or identity theft.

To combat these scams, SEBI has advised the public to:

  • Visit www.sebi.gov.in for authentic updates.
  • Report suspicious activities immediately to helpdesk@sebi.gov.in.
  • Avoid clicking on unknown links or providing personal details via unofficial sources.

This warning comes amid a rising trend of cyber frauds where fake authority branding is used to gain public trust.
