The “Viksit Bharat Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” a transformative campaign to drive innovation in Indian agriculture, was launched on May 29, 2025 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The nationwide initiative marking a significant step toward empowering farmers and strengthening grassroots agricultural development.

The campaign, running until June 12, 2025, aims to bring the Central Government’s key agricultural initiatives directly to farmers across the country. Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Tripura Shri Ratan Lal Nath, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the ‘Viksit Bharat Krishi Sankalp Yatra’ held on Friday at the State Horticulture Research Station, Nagicherra, Agartala stated that – “The central government’s vision is “One Nation, One Agriculture, One Vision”, and that this campaign is part of the broader goal of building a developed India (Viksit Bharat).”

From May 29 to June 12, the Government of India conducted this massive awareness drive in 700 districts across the country.
The Viksit Bharat event witnessed the presence of key officials, including:
- Dr. Fani Bhushan Jamatia, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department
- Sri Deepak Kumar Das, Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department
- Dr. Rajib Ghosh, Head of State Horticulture Research Station
- Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, Director of Animal Resource Development and Fisheries Department
- Prof. Arun Bhai Patel, Dean of College of Fisheries
- Dr. Debashish Sen, Principal of College of Agriculture
Nine progressive farmers from eight districts who achieved success in agriculture, horticulture, fish farming, and animal husbandry were felicitated during the event with mementos and a cheque of ₹10,000 each.
More than 1.72 lakh farmers from 864 villages in Tripura participated in this campaign. They were made aware of various modern and sustainable agricultural technologies, AI-based tools, digital platforms, and government schemes such as:
- PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi
- Soil Health Card & Soil Management
- Kisan Credit Card
- Modern Irrigation Techniques
- Subsidies and Agricultural Insurance
The campaign also emphasized climate-resilient farming, eco-friendly agricultural practices, and women empowerment in the agricultural sector.
During the event, the minister also interacted with media personnel and gifted them fruit baskets produced by the Horticulture Research Centre. He also held a brief discussion with garden workers, appreciating their contribution.
