New Delhi, May 30, 2025 – The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 to outstanding nursing professionals in a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The awards recognize the exemplary services and dedication of nurses across the country in various sectors of healthcare.

This year’s awardees included individuals from diverse states and medical disciplines, who have shown exceptional commitment to patient care, innovation in nursing practices, and tireless efforts during critical situations, including public health emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu emphasized the pivotal role nurses play in the healthcare system, calling them the “backbone of patient care.” She praised their selfless service, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlighted the importance of improving the working conditions and recognition of the nursing community.
The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973 in honor of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The awards serve as a national tribute to the hard work and compassion displayed by nurses across the country.
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with senior health officials and dignitaries, was present at the event. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and a call for continued commitment to excellence in healthcare.
