A Landmark for Farmer Welfare

Launched on February 24, 2019, PM-KISAN provides ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments to all eligible land-owning farmers. By depositing funds directly into farmers’ bank accounts, the scheme eliminates middlemen and ensures quick, transparent support.

According to the official statement, the scheme dedicates over 25% of its benefits to women, reinforcing its inclusive design.

Technology-Driven System to Ensure Faster Payments

The government highlighted that PM-KISAN’s success rests heavily on a strong farmer-centric digital infrastructure, enabling seamless access to benefits.

Key features include:

Aadhaar and Aadhaar-based payment ecosystem for secure, authenticated transactions

PM-KISAN Mobile App, offering easy access to services

Facial Authentication-based eKYC, allowing farmers to verify themselves—and even fellow farmers—from home

IPPB doorstep banking, enabling Aadhaar-linked bank accounts to be opened in villages

These advancements ensure that farmers across remote regions can access the scheme without administrative hurdles.

Simplified Self-Service Through the PM-KISAN Portal

The portal pmkisan.gov.in provides multiple features under the Farmers Corner section:

“Know Your Status” for checking instalment updates

Self-registration options for new farmers

Access to nearby Common Service Centres (CSC) for those without digital facilities

A new Farmer Registry is also being launched to unify and streamline farmer-related data, eliminating repetitive paperwork for welfare schemes.

Robust Grievance Redressal System

To ensure farmers receive timely help, the government has set up multiple grievance channels:

CPGRAMS integration

Dedicated PM-KISAN grievance portal

Kisan-eMitra chatbot, powered by large language models and available in 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, and Kannada

The chatbot assists farmers in resolving issues in their native language, bridging digital gaps and improving accessibility.

Nationwide Saturation Campaigns Underway

The Centre has periodically conducted village-level saturation campaigns to identify and verify all eligible cultivable land-owning farmers. These campaigns aim to bring every farmer family under the PM-KISAN umbrella.

With the upcoming 21st instalment on November 19, millions of farmers stand ready to receive the next tranche of much-needed financial support.
