Param Sundari First Week Box Office: Mixed Reviews, Strong Weekend Pushes Collections to ₹39 Cr

Strong Weekend, Weak Weekdays

The film opened on a positive note with ₹7.25 crore on Day 1 (Friday) and showed good growth over the weekend. It collected ₹9.25 crore on Saturday and peaked at ₹10.25 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total to ₹26.75 crore.

However, the weekdays saw a sharp decline. Monday’s numbers dropped to ₹3.25 crore, Tuesday witnessed a slight recovery at ₹4.25 crore, while Wednesday and Thursday slipped to ₹2.85 crore and ₹2.75 crore respectively. This brought the 7-day India net collection to ₹39.85 crore, which trade experts consider decent given the competition at the box office.

City-Wise Occupancy on Day 7

On its seventh day, Param Sundari witnessed varied occupancies across cities.

Bengaluru (13.33%) and Chennai (12.67%) led the charts with strong evening shows.

Mumbai and Jaipur followed at around 10% occupancy.

The NCR region (9.33%) recorded the highest number of shows (1118), followed by Mumbai (695) and Ahmedabad (402).

Other cities like Pune, Kolkata, and Lucknow registered 8–9% occupancy, while Hyderabad and Ahmedabad saw slightly lower footfalls.

Smaller cities such as Surat and Bhopal reported minimal turnout at under 4%.

Audience & Critic Response

Directed with a visual focus on Kerala’s natural beauty, Param Sundari tells the love story of Param Sachdev, a North Indian boy, and Thekkepattu Sundari Damodharan Pillai, a South Indian girl. While the cinematography has been praised, the storytelling has received criticism for lacking freshness.

Reviews have largely been mixed. The Hindustan Times noted, “If rom-coms are meant to sweep you off your feet, Param Sundari barely manages a polite handshake.”

Outlook for Week 2

With ₹39.85 crore in its first week, the film now faces the challenge of sustaining its run against upcoming releases. Trade analysts believe the second weekend will be crucial in determining its lifetime earnings. A strong hold in metros could help the film inch closer to the ₹50 crore mark, but much depends on word-of-mouth in the coming days.
