Mission Karmayogi boosts digital governance in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a frontrunner in setting new benchmarks for administrative efficiency and digital governance, as the Social Welfare Department takes the lead under the Mission Karmayogi initiative. The state’s push for capacity building and transparency through digital learning is redefining public service delivery.

According to Asim Arun, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare, around 3,900 officers, employees, and teachers from the department have already registered on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, completing an impressive 21,150 courses spanning 15,893 training hours.

Building a Digitally Skilled Bureaucracy

Out of the total registered participants, 2,759 employees have completed at least one course, 2,289 have finished three or more, while 1,611 have completed fewer than three courses. Additionally, 1,141 employees are currently undergoing training on the portal.

Arun emphasized that the core aim of Mission Karmayogi is to make every government employee efficient, transparent, and accountable.

> “This training helps government personnel develop new work styles, an understanding of policymaking, and management skills that ultimately ensure higher-quality and more transparent services for citizens,” he said.

Courses Promoting Modern Governance and Work-Life Balance

The iGOT Karmayogi platform offers diverse learning modules that go beyond technical skills. These include:

‘Yoga Break at Workplace’ – promoting stress-free productivity

POSH Act 2013 – ensuring awareness on women’s safety and workplace ethics

GeM Procurement Training – improving transparency in public purchases


Other modules cover the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Basics of Artificial Intelligence, and the Right to Information (RTI) Act, enabling employees to gain insights into policy, technology, and citizen-centric governance.

Driving Accountability and Citizen Satisfaction

Under the digital governance policy led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Mission Karmayogi initiative has become a key enabler of administrative reform. The program aims to link all state departments with the iGOT Karmayogi portal to ensure a more accessible and accountable administration.

Officials say the digital transformation is already yielding tangible outcomes — from faster service delivery to higher levels of citizen trust in government institutions.

A Model for Other States

With its proactive implementation and focus on continuous learning, Uttar Pradesh is positioning itself as a model for other Indian states seeking to modernize their bureaucratic systems.

The Mission Karmayogi framework is expected to evolve further, making Uttar Pradesh a hub of skilled, responsive, and citizen-friendly governance in the years to come.
