New Delhi, June 17, 2025 —
In a major boost to self-employment initiatives across India, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has disbursed ₹300 crore margin money subsidy under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to 11,480 beneficiaries from the service sector. The event, held virtually, was chaired by KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar from the Rajghat office in New Delhi.

The subsidy was released against loan sanctions worth ₹906 crore, directly credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. KVIC CEO Ms. Roop Rashi and other senior officers also participated in the virtual event.
“Under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi, PMEGP has become a strong pillar of Atmanirbhar Bharat. It’s not just a financial scheme, but a social movement empowering lakhs of youth, women, and artisans,” said Chairman Manoj Kumar.

- East Zone (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar): ₹22 crore | 996 projects
- North Zone (Punjab, Haryana, HP, J&K, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh): ₹61 crore | 2713 projects
- North East Region (Assam, Tripura, Sikkim, etc.): ₹2 crore | 81 projects
- South Zone (AP, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry): ₹116 crore | 4565 projects
- West Zone (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa): ₹26 crore | 722 projects
📊 PMEGP Impact So Far
Since inception, the PMEGP scheme has enabled the establishment of over 10.18 lakh micro-enterprises, sanctioning ₹73,348 crore in loans and disbursing ₹27,166 crore in margin subsidy. It has created employment for over 90 lakh people across India, becoming one of the most impactful self-employment initiatives by the Government of India.
