IndiGo Flight to Manchester Turns Back After 7 Hrs:
An IndiGo flight bound for Manchester was forced to return to Delhi after spending nearly seven hours in the air due to sudden airspace restrictions linked to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The airline confirmed on Monday that Flight 6E033, operating from Delhi to Manchester, had to abort its journey and head back to its origin after last-minute restrictions were imposed on certain international air routes.

Sudden Airspace Restrictions
According to an IndiGo spokesperson, the decision to return the aircraft was taken after authorities imposed unexpected restrictions on airspace in and around the Middle East.
“Due to the evolving situation in and around the Middle East, some of our flights may take longer routes or experience diversions,” the airline said in an official statement.
The spokesperson added that Flight 6E033 was forced to return to Delhi due to last-minute airspace restrictions resulting from the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
The airline emphasised that passenger safety remained its top priority.
“As always, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft is of utmost importance to us,” the statement added.
Airline Exploring Options for Passengers
IndiGo said it is currently working with relevant aviation authorities and partners to determine the best possible options to resume the journey or accommodate affected passengers.
The airline has not yet confirmed when the flight will be rescheduled.
Flight Tracking Data Revealed Turnaround
The incident was first flagged by global flight tracking platform Flightradar24, which shared real-time tracking data on social media platform X.
The data showed the aircraft reversing course mid-flight and heading back toward India after flying for several hours over international airspace.
The IndiGo flight had departed from Delhi and was en route to Manchester when the restrictions came into effect.
Notably, this was the first Delhi–Manchester IndiGo flight since February 26, making the disruption particularly significant.

Wider Impact on Aviation Operations
The ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have started affecting global aviation routes.
Flight tracking data showed that airlines in the Gulf region adjusted their operations due to the situation. Major carriers such as Emirates, Air Arabia, and flydubai reportedly increased flight activity on Sunday, while Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways operated fewer flights compared to the previous day.
Airlines across the region are monitoring developments closely as airspace closures and route adjustments continue to affect long-haul travel between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Impact on IndiGo Shares
The incident also appeared to weigh on investor sentiment.
Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, declined around 4 percent on the BSE, closing at ₹4,236 on Monday.
The stock had dropped as much as 8.37 percent intraday, touching a low of ₹4,035.65 during the trading session.
Market analysts said investor concerns were partly linked to rising global crude oil prices, which surged above $100 per barrel amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
The situation has also affected shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, adding further pressure on the aviation sector due to rising fuel costs.
