India’s First 24×7 LPG ATM in Gurgaon:

In a major step towards modernising household services, Gurgaon has introduced a 24×7 LPG ATM, allowing residents to exchange empty gas cylinders for filled ones in just two to three minutes. Installed at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector 33, Sohna, this smart vending machine is part of Bharatgas’ initiative to bring faster and contactless LPG distribution.

The facility comes at a time when consumers are seeking more convenient alternatives to traditional home delivery systems, which often involve waiting periods and scheduling hassles.

What is an LPG ATM and How Does It Work?

The LPG ATM is a fully automated vending machine designed to simplify the refill process. Consumers with a registered Bharatgas composite cylinder connection can access the service through a quick digital process:

• Enter registered mobile number
• Verify via OTP
• Scan QR/barcode on empty cylinder
• Make payment via UPI or debit card
• Collect filled cylinder instantly

The entire process takes just 2–3 minutes, eliminating long waiting times and dependency on delivery personnel.

Lightweight Composite Cylinders: A Game Changer

One of the key highlights of the LPG ATM is the use of composite cylinders. Unlike traditional metal cylinders weighing around 31 kg (with gas), these fibre-based cylinders weigh approximately 15 kg while carrying the same amount of gas.

Additional benefits include:

• Transparent body to check gas levels
• Corrosion-free and dust-free design
• Easier handling and improved safety

These features make them especially user-friendly for elderly individuals and working families.

Smart Inventory & 24×7 Convenience

The LPG ATM can store up to 10 cylinders at a time. Once the stock drops to two cylinders, the system automatically alerts the nearest gas agency for refilling.

Residents have welcomed the innovation, highlighting the freedom from fixed delivery schedules. The ability to access LPG refills anytime, day or night, adds significant convenience.

However, reports indicate that adoption is still low, with only a few cylinders dispensed so far—mainly due to lack of awareness among residents.

Part of BPCL’s Pilot Project

This initiative is part of a pilot project by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to test automated LPG distribution systems. The aim is to improve accessibility while promoting modern, efficient composite cylinders.

Officials confirmed that the LPG ATM will continue operating even after current supply pressures ease. If successful, similar machines could be rolled out across other cities in India.

Conclusion

The introduction of LPG ATMs marks a significant shift towards smart urban living. With instant service, digital convenience, and safer cylinders, this innovation has the potential to transform how Indian households access cooking gas in the future.
