The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) located in Gandhinagar, has rapidly grown into the country’s most advanced international financial and technology hub, strongly positioning itself to support India’s long-term development vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, according to an official government statement released on Friday.

India’s Premier Global Finance Hub
As of now, more than 1,034 entities are registered in the GIFT IFSC, including 38 banks with an asset base of $100.14 billion. The city spans nearly 1,000 acres, expected to expand to more than 3,300 acres including SEZ and Domestic Tariff Area zones.
GIFT City offers attractive incentives such as a 10-year income-tax exemption within a 15-year period to units operating within the IFSC, making it one of the most competitive financial zones in Asia.
Unified Oversight Under IFSCA
Governance of GIFT City falls under the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), established through the IFSCA Act, 2019 and operational since April 2020.
Unlike earlier fragmented regulatory frameworks involving RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and PFRDA, IFSCA now functions as a single unified regulator, enabling:
Simplified compliance
Faster approvals
Improved ease of doing business
Alignment with global standards
The IFSC entity is treated as a non-resident for Foreign Exchange Management purposes, offering global market flexibility.

Launched in July 2022, the India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) has emerged as a world-class gateway for bullion imports and trading. Promoted by leading institutions such as NSE, INDIA INX, NSDL, CDSL, and MCX, IIBX ensures transparency through compliance with OECD due-diligence standards, supporting responsible sourcing from sensitive global regions.
