In a major step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence ecosystem, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing smart technological solutions for national security and defence deployment.

According to the official statement, the collaboration will support joint research, innovation and capacity building in critical domains including logistics management, tactical and strategic operational logistics, chip design and hardware security, and homomorphic or blockchain-based encryption technologies.

Focus on Strengthening Defence Logistics & Security Systems
The MoU is expected to serve as a platform for collaborative studies and advanced R&D, particularly in the deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems. Researchers and scientists from both organisations will work closely on:
Logistics management frameworks
Operational readiness at tactical, operational and strategic levels
Validation of logistics and supply chain plans
Chip-level security
Advanced encryption techniques
The aim is to build deeper capacities in military science, logistics, and technical research, enabling the development of next-generation defence-ready solutions.
Joint Seminars, Research Initiatives and Workshops Planned
Under the agreement, GSV and DRDO will jointly conduct:
Research projects
Seminars and conferences
Round-table workshops
Capacity-building programs
These initiatives will accelerate innovation and create a structured ecosystem for defence-focused academic and technological advancements.
GSV already has established collaborations with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy for logistics and supply chain education. The new partnership with DRDO further enhances its strategic role in India’s defence research landscape.

DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V. Kamat Witnesses Signing
The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence R&D. Officials said the agreement will support the development of “technological solutions for deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems,” leveraging the strengths of both institutions.
