Droupadi Murmu Completes 21-km Govardhan Parikrama:

Droupadi Murmu on Saturday performed the sacred 21-kilometre Govardhan Parikrama in a golf cart, marking a historic moment as she became the first sitting President to visit the revered Govardhan Parvat.

The pilgrimage holds deep religious significance in Hindu tradition, as Govardhan Parvat is closely associated with Lord Krishna. Devotees believe that performing the full circumambulation (Parikrama) of the hill brings spiritual merit and blessings.

Sacred Route and Key Religious Sites

The 21-km Parikrama route includes several prominent religious spots such as:

• Danghati Temple
• Radha Kund
• Shyam Kund
• Kusum Sarovar
• Jatipura

During her visit, President Murmu also offered prayers at the Danghati Temple, one of the most important shrines along the route.

Spiritual Engagement in Vrindavan

A day earlier, President Murmu met renowned spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj at the Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan.
The meeting was marked by a spiritual discourse focusing on values, faith, and their role in fostering harmony in society. The President sought blessings from the saint, who is a prominent figure of the Radha Vallabh tradition followed widely in the Braj region.

Visit to ISKCON Temple and Other Religious Sites

As part of her three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, President Murmu also visited the ISKCON Temple Vrindavan, where she participated in the evening aarti.
She paid tribute at the samadhi of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and offered prayers at the Krishna Balaram and Shyam Sunder temples, key spiritual centres for devotees.

Ayodhya Visit and Key Inaugurations

Earlier in her visit, the President travelled to Ayodhya, where she installed the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The ceremony, conducted with Vedic rituals, is considered a significant step towards the temple’s completion.
She also inaugurated the Oncology Block at the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, aimed at enhancing cancer care facilities in the region.

President Murmu’s visit to Uttar Pradesh reflects a blend of spiritual devotion and public service. From participating in sacred rituals to inaugurating healthcare infrastructure, the visit highlights the importance of cultural heritage alongside developmental initiatives.
Her historic Govardhan Parikrama is expected to inspire devotees and further spotlight the spiritual significance of Mathura and its surrounding regions.
