Rescue and Relief Operations Underway
Teams from the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have reached the disaster-hit zone and are leading rescue operations. Personnel are using loudspeakers to warn locals to stay away from the water, as the region continues to receive heavy rainfall.
A makeshift treatment center has been established at the army base in nearby Harsil, where some of the injured are receiving medical attention.
Senior district official Prashant Arya confirmed that communication lines are unstable, making it difficult to assess the full scale of the disaster. “Since Dharali is densely populated with hotels and restaurants, multiple rescue teams have been dispatched,” he added.
