Cabinet Approves 1.6 Lakh Crore Infra Projects:
In its final meeting at South Block, the Union Cabinet approved development projects worth ₹1,60,504 crore before formally shifting its operations to the newly inaugurated Seva Teerth complex. The announcement was made by Union Railways and Electronics & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The decisions span railways, national highways, metro expansion, urban reforms and startup financing, marking a significant policy push ahead of the administrative transition.

Shift to Seva Teerth Complex
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new ‘Seva Teerth’ complex, which will house the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), and the Cabinet Secretariat. The move signals a new phase in administrative functioning, with the Cabinet passing a resolution to relocate its operations.
₹1 Lakh Crore Urban Challenge Fund Launched
One of the landmark approvals was the launch of the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) with central assistance of ₹1 lakh crore. The fund will cover 25% of project costs, provided that at least 50% of the funding is mobilised from market sources.
The initiative aims to transform urban development by promoting structured financing and incentivising states and cities to raise capital efficiently.
Railways Expansion Across Four States
The Cabinet approved three multi-tracking railway projects across 12 districts in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka at a total cost of ₹18,509 crore.
The projects will add approximately 389 km to the existing network of Indian Railways, improving capacity, reducing congestion, and enhancing freight and passenger efficiency.
₹10,000 Crore Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0
In a major boost to India’s startup ecosystem, the Cabinet approved the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a corpus of ₹10,000 crore. The new fund aims to mobilise long-term domestic capital and provide stronger financial backing to emerging businesses across sectors.
The move reinforces the government’s push to strengthen innovation-driven growth and deepen venture funding availability within India.

Highway Upgrades Across Maharashtra, Telangana & Gujarat
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also cleared several national highway projects:
• Rehabilitation and upgradation of the Ghoti–Trimbak–Jawhar–Manor–Palghar stretch of NH-160A in Maharashtra (154.635 km) with an outlay of ₹3,320.38 crore.
• Widening of NH-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar in Telangana to four lanes at ₹3,175.08 crore.
• Upgradation of two sections of NH-56 in Gujarat to four lanes with an investment of ₹4,583.64 crore.
These projects are expected to reduce logistics costs, improve freight movement efficiency, and stimulate regional socio-economic growth.
A High-Impact Closing Session
The final Cabinet meeting at South Block not only marked a symbolic administrative shift but also delivered a substantial infrastructure and economic push. With approvals spanning rail, roads, urban transformation and startup funding, the government signalled continuity in its development agenda even as it transitions to its new operational base.
