The Border Security Force (BSF) has sealed all escape routes along the India–Bangladesh border in Meghalaya as part of an intensive manhunt to capture armed infiltrators from Bangladesh. The suspects are accused of robbing, assaulting, and attempting to abduct a villager in the South West Khasi Hills district.

The joint operation, launched in the Majersora–Hathinala forest belt, involves the BSF, Meghalaya Police, and Village Defence Parties, with the K-9 dog squad assisting in the search.
Incident Details
According to BSF officials, the infiltration took place on August 8, when at least eight armed men crossed over from Bangladesh into the Bagli sector. They stormed Rongdangai village, stabbed and injured a civilian, vandalised property, and attempted to kidnap a resident.
From August 9 to 11, coordinated action by BSF and police forces led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of critical evidence, including:
1.A Bangladesh Police identity card
2.Wireless sets
3.Wire cutters
4.Indian and Bangladeshi currency
4.A suspected explosive substance
5.Handcuffs
Two more suspects were later caught, bringing the total arrests to six. One of them, identified as Akram, was captured by villagers but died during treatment from injuries sustained during his apprehension.

Explosives Recovered
On August 12, joint teams recovered an intact suspected country-made explosive while continuing the pursuit of the remaining intruders.
BSF Statement
Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, O P Upadhyay, who is personally supervising the operation, commended the courage of the troops, police, and villagers. He reaffirmed BSF’s unwavering commitment to protecting India’s borders from cross-border threats.
The combing operation is ongoing.
