AI as a Strategic Asset

Chadha underlined that nations with strong computing power and digital infrastructure are likely to dominate the AI-driven world order.
“Artificial intelligence is no longer just a technology issue but a strategic one,” he said, adding that processing capacity and digital infrastructure will determine which countries lead in the AI era.

Drawing a historical parallel, the Rajya Sabha member noted that just as oil, gas, and steel defined global power in the 20th century, AI and semiconductor manufacturing will shape geopolitical dominance in the 21st century.

Three Global Monopolies in AI

Highlighting structural challenges in the AI ecosystem, Chadha pointed to what he described as three global monopolies:
• Control over AI design concentrated in a handful of companies
• Manufacturing limited to select regions
• Export restrictions through policies such as those imposed by the United States

While acknowledging that India does not yet control these three pillars, he emphasized that the country’s greatest strength lies in its human capital.

‘Talent Without Compute Is Aspiration’

Chadha said India is increasingly being viewed as a global hub for AI professionals and skilled manpower. However, he cautioned that talent alone will not be enough to secure leadership in the AI era.

“Talent without compute is aspiration,” he remarked, urging policymakers to ensure access to high-end computing resources, diversify supply chains, and build strong domestic digital infrastructure.

He stressed that India must act decisively to secure its position in the evolving global order shaped by artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

A Defining Moment for AI Governance

Earlier, Chadha shared on social media platform X that he was excited to speak at the summit, calling it a defining moment for shaping AI in the public interest.
“This is a defining moment for how we shape AI in the public interest. It will influence how we govern, build, and protect citizens in the years ahead,” he posted.
The summit reflects India’s growing role in global AI governance debates, as policymakers and industry leaders seek to balance innovation, regulation, and national competitiveness in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
