Accenture Calls 800,000 Staff ‘Reinventors’ in AI Rebrand

Sky Link Times | December 2, 2025

Accenture, one of the world’s largest consulting firms, has reportedly begun referring to its nearly 800,000 employees as “reinventors”, marking one of the most ambitious corporate rebrands seen in the industry’s shift toward artificial intelligence. The change is being driven by CEO Julie Sweet, who has begun using the term internally as part of the company’s latest restructuring.

A New Identity for an AI-Driven Future

The “reinventor” label emerged from Accenture’s June reorganisation, which merged strategy, consulting, creative, technology, and operations into a single mega-division called Reinvention Services. The firm hopes the new identity underscores its push to position itself as an AI-first consultancy.

This follows Accenture’s earlier rebrand—renaming its interactive division as Accenture Song, a move that was widely mocked in the marketing industry.

Critics say the new term risks being seen as unnecessary jargon rather than a meaningful shift.
Damon Collins, co-founder of the agency Joint, said:

> “From the people that brought you Accenture Song now come the ‘reinventors’. Staff are going to cringe. It feels like corporate panic.

Part of a Larger Trend of Quirky Corporate Titles

Accenture’s new job label joins a long list of unusual corporate titles seen across industries. Disney has its “imagineers”, Apple has its “geniuses”, and MediaMonks refers to employees as “monks”. Tech firms often use titles like “ninjas” and “growth hackers”.

Branding experts warn that while creative titles can boost culture, applying them universally can cause internal confusion.

Gonzalo Brujó, Global CEO at Interbrand, said:

> “This name does not apply to all 800,000 employees. Very few can truly be called ‘reinventors’.”

AI Upskilling—or Exit

Accenture’s rebrand aligns with its aggressive push into generative AI adoption. CEO Julie Sweet has previously told investors that employees who cannot adapt to AI tools will be “exited” from the company.

Accenture has already laid off 11,000 employees, bringing its workforce to 791,000, and is training the remainder in AI fundamentals. Internal systems, including its HR portal, have reportedly been updated to display the term “reinventors” instead of “workers.”

Financial Pressure and Industry Shifts

Accenture benefited heavily from the post-pandemic boom in digital transformation. However, 2025 has been challenging.
The company reported $69.7 billion in revenue, a 7% annual rise, but warned that US federal spending cuts may slow future growth.

Its stock has fallen more than 25% this year, partly due to the Trump administration’s move to review consultancy contracts across government agencies.

Branding Gamble or Strategic Vision?

While the “reinventor” identity reflects Accenture’s intention to lead in AI-powered consulting, branding experts caution that such sweeping job-title changes may alienate employees rather than inspire them.

For now, Accenture is betting that the future of consulting belongs to those who can continuously adapt—and wants its workforce to reflect that philosophy.
